Installing Apache, MySQL, and PHP on Linux


This tutorial is designed to guide you through the initial steps of setting up Apache, MySQL, and PHP on Linux. The Linux distribution being utilized for this tutorial is Fedora Core 1, however the steps should be very similar across most distributions. This tutorial makes the assumption that you have the required development tools loaded for compiling programs from source, these tools are beyond the scope of this document and will not be covered here. Apache HTTP Server Tutorial


The Apache HTTP Server, commonly referred to as Apache , is web server software notable for playing a key role in the initial growth of the World Wide Web. In 2009 it became the first web server software to surpass the 100 million web site milestone.

The Apache HTTP Server Project is an effort to develop and maintain an open-source HTTP server for modern operating systems including UNIX and Windows NT.
